15th Century... Rebirth!: Architecture

The Renaissance! Ah, yes. We know it well. But do you know it as well as I got to see it firsthand?

Renaissance architecture popped up and replaced Gothic style around the 15th century. Ancient Roman characteristics like columns, round arches, and domes showed up again.

Welcome back, dome!
Florence Cathedral
Again, ceilings of these large domes were painted beautifully.
Check out the ashlar on the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence
The outsides of buildings were covered with ashlar masonry and the corners were finished with quoins.
