16th Century, the Tudors and My Girl, Lizzie: Clothing

THIS is Queen Elizabeth I of England. Look at her!
Queen Elizabeth was the baddest bitch of her time. Not only was she a great ruler, but she was at the center of fashion and wore the coolest (and probably the most uncomfortable) clothes. EVER. The fashion of this time was high stylized, ornate, and energized.

Let me tell you how Lizzie got dressed every morning.

First, Lizzie would probably put on her unmentionables. Then she'd probably get laced up tight in a corset. Next, she'd put on a pretty chemise and maybe some stockings. To make her gown skirt super voluminous, she'd tie on a farthingale,a stuffed, bolster-like roll that was fastened around the hips to make them hider and to support the drapes of her gown. Then Lizzie would put on her gown and sleeves. WE'RE NOT DONE YET! Queen Elizabeth is almost always depicted wearing a ruff, which was a removable ruffle collar. So Lizzie puts on her beautiful lace ruff and a fiery wig and some sweet shoes. And don't forget a beautiful headpiece and tons of precious jewelry! A girl's gotta make a statement somehow.
The end result was this:
Flawless
Check out the ruff on that babe!

Well that's it for now, time travelers! I hope you've enjoyed looking at all of my favorite things from my travels! Now go on and learn some spells and get back in time!
