ROME If You Want To!: Clothing

Fashion in Ancient Rome was very elegant and royal-looking. Wool, silk, and cotton were the most popular materials used in clothing. The fabrics were dyed red, purple, yellow, blue, and black. The Romans also used animal skins and leather. So hip and luxurious! Not to mention warm...

The toga praetexta.
Cute I guess. I'd rather see a guy in a tuxedo...
So check it out, guys. The Romans DID wear TOGAS! Finally some toga in our lives. The toga had a few different variations including the toga praetexta, which was worn by Roman boys for special occasions!

Ladies wore tunics and most popularly, they wore a garment called the stola. A stola is made of two rectangular pieces of fabric joined at the sides and girdled at the waist.

Togas, tunics, and stolas, OH MY!
